The pandemic appeared suddenly. Jesus will too.
At the end of times, Jesus will come again. It will be sudden when it happens. Here are some scriptures about this event:
Matthew 24: 36-44
Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers and sisters, you do not need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. When they say, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there will be no escape!
1 Thessalonians 5: 1-3
With today's technology, it can be hard to imagine something that can appear suddenly without much or any warning. For example, most hurricanes are known about well before they hit land. Even if their exact path has some uncertainty, there is still a lot known and people usually have time to prepare.
Thus, the scriptures above can be hard to relate to when we're used to receiving warnings about impending worldwide events.
Yet, the coronavirus pandemic appeared without warning. Very few people envisaged a lockdown in areas other than China. Almost no-one outside of China back in February 2019 would have decided to set up a home office, get in extra supplies, and anything else they'd need to do to prepare for a multi-week lockdown.
When Jesus comes, it will be a lot like the coronavirus pandemic - in fact, even more sudden than that, from what the scriptures above are telling us. Even though we have good technology, we should not expect that it will warn us of the second coming of Christ - it won't. That event will take everyone worldwide as much by surprise as the covid-19 pandemic did.
Are you prepared for Jesus? Will this be a welcome event for you, or are you fearful of what might happen to you then?
If you are unsure or questioning, talk to God. Listen. Read the Bible to get to know Him better. He has given you the free gift of eternal life in Heaven through the death and resurrection of Jesus - if you are willing to accept that gift. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the father except through him.
