The Kingdom of Heaven is worth more than everything

It's easy to get caught up in the busy day to day things that we need to do and forget what is literally the most valuable thing in the universe. It's the Kingdom of Heaven. Its value is spelled out clearly in the Bible, and we will take a look at this passage below.

The Kingdom of Heaven not just a nice-to-have; it's a must-have. It's to the point that we should be willing to trade anything else for it.

As a reminder, if God exists and is the ruler of the Universe, and if He guided the writing of the Bible, then the writings of the Bible should be more significant than any other writing in this world.

Let's take a look at what Jesus himself told people about the value of Heaven:

‘The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

‘Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Matthew 13:44-46

It is clear from the passage above that Heaven is more valuable than anything else.

Jesus also made it clear that if there was anything that was stopping someone from entering the Kingdom of Heaven, to cut ties with that thing, even if it's your own body part:

If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into hell, where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched.

Mark 9: 43-48

This shows us that Heaven should be our primary goal. It should not be our secondary goal or an optional goal. It is literally better to be missing a body part and go to Heaven, than to miss out on Heaven and have a whole body. If Heaven is this important, we should not be making it be an afterthought.

Of course, we still need to go about our daily tasks of living, but our lives should be in the pursuit of Heaven.

One final verse in support of this is yet another thing that Jesus said:

For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life?

Mark 8: 36

If we don't make the pursuit of Heaven our primary goal, we could wind up gaining the world and losing out on Heaven. Our life is eternal beyond our life on Earth. So that time (eternity) is what we should be focused on, not our much shorter time here on Earth.
