Get the most happiness out of each day

The title sounds selfish, doesn't it?! It doesn't mean sitting around doing nothing and eating candy all day, although I admit that sounds appealing if I had the time to do it. What I'm getting across here is that in whatever you have to do each day anyway and in the normal course of your day (work, housework, whatever), to be thankful to God for anything good that happens. It will change your life!

I have been starting each day by thanking God for all of the good things that happened in the past 24 hours since I last prayed. I go through each of these things one by one in my prayer of thanks. It can be something as simple as getting x or y on my to-do list done, or having a chance to chat with a friend, or whatever. Even if you have no time in your day and can't imagine that anything good would happen, it's not about the special or additional activities. It can be as simple as a smile or positive feedback or something else that happened in the course of your day.

So it's not about things that are "extra" to your day, not the bits that are the "icing on the cake" but finding moments of joy in the everyday stuff that has to happen anyway.

This completely changed my life! It will change yours too if you haven't already tried this. In 24 hours there is a huge amount of time for good stuff to happen, you just need to remember to notice it when it happens. All too often God is blessing us with all of these good things, but we have our sights set on wanting a future vacation or something "big" and aren't even noticing this outpouring of blessings from God here and now.

There is so much good stuff that is happening - more than you ever realized. You just need to look, and to be thankful to God. Enjoy it!
