The end of days will appear as a cosmic event

In the Bible, it is made clear that Jesus will come to earth a second time. That time will not be as a sacrifice, as he did when he died on the cross the first time he was on earth. What will the second time look like? It is clear from the description in the Bible that it will be a cosmic event. Let's take a look. In the passage below from the book of Luke, it is Jesus himself speaking to the people:

“There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in a cloud’ with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Luke21: 25-28

From the description above, it seems that some cosmic event is clearly indicated at the time of the second coming of Jesus. Remember that back when the Bible was written, less was known about astronomy and the cosmos than now. So they didn't necessarily have all the vocabulary surrounding that topic that we have today. "Signs in the sun, moon and stars" indicate some sort of unusual event in space. We know today that the moon affects the tides on earth, and the Bible says that there will be "distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves", so it looks like some major disruption to the moon will occur (among other things). It is clear from this Bible passage, spoken by Jesus, that a big cosmic event will happen. 

Will everyone who is alive at that time in the future believe that this event is connected to the second coming of Jesus? I certainly hope so, but sadly I think there might still be some who won't believe. 

If you are still searching or are uncertain, why not consider praying to God and asking Him to give you a sign from Him? And in order to get to know Him better, read the Bible. God our creator wants to have a relationship with us. That is amazing when you think about it.

Organized religion and why it is important

The church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum of saints All too frequently, organized religion (i.e. a church) can seem pointless and boring.  I certainly found it this way before I started reading the Bible.  Often, the lack of interest in church may be caused by one of two main things: 1. The person has had a bad experience previously in organized religion 2. The person feels uncomfortable about realizing that they are a sinner In the case of the first problem, it is quite possible that differences in Christian denominations has confused the person.  It is confusing!  It is important to go to a church whose teachings are in line with the Bible.  Identifying such a church oneself does require a) attending a church and b) reading the Bible. Do You Expect God to Match Up With YOUR Specifications?

"God isn't real if I don't believe in him" "I can't believe in a God who lets X or Y happen" The above are sentences which are heard frequently.  Curiously, these people seem to think that if God doesn't match up to THEIR specifications, He can't be real.  I think the root of this is the lack of ability we humans have to 'prove' or see the existence of God (or from the opposing viewpoint, to prove a lack of existence). The difficulty with which we can detect spiritual things compared to the ease with which we can detect the physical world makes it very easy for us to think we make the rules and that if God doesn't appear to follow 'our' rules (expectations), He can't be real.
