Jesus had a clear sense of His priorities

As the son of God, there were many things Jesus could have been doing at any one time. Yet he kept His focus on the ministry He was there to do. The temptation to get sidetracked would have been incredible, since He was around other people all the time who asked Him to do things. 

He did always find time to help people on the way to what He was doing. But he never lost his focus of the main thing.

Here is an example in the book of Mark:

In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed. And Simon and his companions hunted for him. When they found him, they said to him, “Everyone is searching for you.” He answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also, for that is what I came out to do.” And he went throughout all Galilee, proclaiming the message in their synagogues and casting out demons.

Mark 1: 35-39

As you can see, His priority was to first pray, in solitude. He needed the time with God. As I have mentioned before, if one so strong as Jesus needs that, how much more do we need it? Then his friends came to Jesus and told Him that everyone was looking for Him. Yet Jesus didn't follow them to those people. Instead, Jesus informed his friends that he was there to spread the good news among the neighboring towns too, and that it was now time for him to do that.

His mission was not something that he had decided upon by himself, it was what God had called Him to do.

Jesus too was faced with a multitude of requests in different directions. You can likely relate to that too. Yet He made it clear what his mission and his responsibility was, and He stuck to that.

Organized religion and why it is important

The church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum of saints All too frequently, organized religion (i.e. a church) can seem pointless and boring.  I certainly found it this way before I started reading the Bible.  Often, the lack of interest in church may be caused by one of two main things: 1. The person has had a bad experience previously in organized religion 2. The person feels uncomfortable about realizing that they are a sinner In the case of the first problem, it is quite possible that differences in Christian denominations has confused the person.  It is confusing!  It is important to go to a church whose teachings are in line with the Bible.  Identifying such a church oneself does require a) attending a church and b) reading the Bible. Do You Expect God to Match Up With YOUR Specifications?

"God isn't real if I don't believe in him" "I can't believe in a God who lets X or Y happen" The above are sentences which are heard frequently.  Curiously, these people seem to think that if God doesn't match up to THEIR specifications, He can't be real.  I think the root of this is the lack of ability we humans have to 'prove' or see the existence of God (or from the opposing viewpoint, to prove a lack of existence). The difficulty with which we can detect spiritual things compared to the ease with which we can detect the physical world makes it very easy for us to think we make the rules and that if God doesn't appear to follow 'our' rules (expectations), He can't be real.
